SubMax Heart Rate Tests in Austin, Texas at BodyBusiness Health Club & Spa

Are you training efficiently?

Why test for heart rate? In order to set your heart rate working zones from 50-100% of your Maximum heart rate, you need to be tested in a cardiovascular test. In the past we have used a mathematical formula 220-your age.

The formula 220-your age is old science. Since Sally Edwards released “The Heart Rate Monitor Book” in 1992, scientific research presented and demonstrated that although the formula 220-age to determine Max heart rate, is easy and tends to be conservative, it is not accurate.

Individuals looking to increase their fitness level, reduce body fat, or improve sport performance have flocked to this method of training in their INDIVIDUAL heart zones, including Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong. The research demonstrated that maximum heart rate is genetically determined and does not change with age. The number does not reflect your level of fitness and is a fixed number unless you become unfit. It is sport specific and it cannot be accurately predicted by any mathematical formula.

BodyBusiness Personal Trainer, Catherine Robinson, finds this information so important to enhance ones training benefits, that she herself has participated in a Submax heart rate test, performed by Sally Edwards, and has attended several of Sally Edwards seminars/workshops to further her education.
Catherine now leads educational seminars on Heart Zone Training both in USA and abroad to help spread the word about training in “your correct heart zones.”

Catherine offers SubMax heart zone tests at our Davenport location. The session is 30-minutes and requires you to come rested and be coffee free that day. She will conduct two simple fitness tests and a third more intense heart rate test that will take you to the SubMax heart rate or your threshold level.

5:30pm Group Power will be moved to BB Davenport for July 23rd only. Saturday classes will resume as usual – on the new floor!!

Other construction news…
We have obtained our city permits and are moving out of the west wing. Construction will begin very soon! We’ll keep you posted!
